Termostatos

Termostatos

The main function of a thermostat is to maintain a minimum operating temperature in the car engine. When the engine is started, the thermostat retains the antifreeze and coolant mixture inside the engine. It opens when a specified temperature is reached. The coolant then flows through the radiator to keep the engine at a temperature close to the thermostat's rated temperature. Three types of thermostats are currently offered in the Valeo range:

1 Conventional wax thermostats :

  • Tested product
  • Minimum storage space required
  • High production volume
  • Preset opening temperature
  • Affordable price

2 Electrically heated wax thermostats:

  • Improved operating range through variable aperture temperature
  • Fast response time via optional power supply
  • Advanced engine management to reduce emissions and improve fuel consumption
  • Compatibility with conventional thermostats

3 Electrically actuated thermostats:

  • Total control regardless of temperature
  • Maximum possible operating range
  • Adaptable to today's temperature management requirements

Select Valeo's range of thermostats:

  • Extensive knowledge of engine cooling systems.
  • Wide range with 381 references.
  • Accurate mounting hole locations to vehicle specifications
  • High-quality materials for demanding opening and closing work cycles
  • Opening temperature clearly marked on the product
  • High-quality surface finish for gasket assembly
  • Controlled casting process to avoid porosity
  • Grip area for high pressure connector
  • All gaskets are packed in a box for quick and easy installation.

Valeo Information:

Thermostat Failure The thermostat can become stuck in the closed position if the wax element is damaged by overheating, corrosion, or aging. If the thermostat fails to close, the constant flow of coolant through the thermostat will prevent the engine from reaching normal operating temperature. This can impair drivability in cold weather, cause a sharp increase in fuel consumption, greatly reduced or even no heater output, etc. If the water pump is replaced, the thermostat must also be replaced.
